The reading list

by Jeni

I've preliminarily picked my books for next year. Keep in mind that some are meant to be light reads, some are class books that I want to engage more deeply, some are treasured books read many times in many places and some are reference books. All of these books currently fit into my new backpack, which will also hold my computer and other such gadgets.

The Solace of Leaving Early by Haven Kimmel
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
The Wisdom of the Poor One of Assisi by Eloi Leclerc
Number the Stars by Lois Lowry
The Holy Land: An Oxford Archaelogical Guide by Jerome Murphy-O'Connor
A small leather-bound ELW
The Bible
Abraham: Trials of Family and Faith by Terence Fretheim
On the Incarnation by St. Athanasius
Israel: An Echo of Eternity by Abraham Heschel
The Silent Cry: Mysticism and Resistance by Dorothee Soelle
For the Time Being by Annie Dillard
Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson
The Story of Christianity by Justo Gonzalez
A Chorus of Witnesses (a collection of great sermons)
Letters and Papers from Prison by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
The Snows of Kilimanjaro by Ernest Hemingway
The Brothers Karamozov by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Additions, subtractions, ideas?

Add "Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats, mostly for his wordplay.
